- Tafseer Ibn Kathir is probably the most well known and widely read commentary of the Holy Quran in the world. Originally known as Tafseer Al-Quran Al-Azim, this detailed and authentic exegesis of the Quran was written by Hafiz’Imad Ad-Din bin Kathir. Written in 774 AH, it is classed as a traditional tafseer and is based on the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the blessed Prophet (SAW). Ibn Kathir uses only Quran and hadith as references and sources for his commentary. It is generally considered to be the best presentation of Ahadith, history, and scholarly commentary.
